Digital Court Reporter

SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE Digital Court Reporting and does not include Legal Transcription. This 8-week class is taken online and is self-paced. It is designed to give participants a thorough understanding of digital court reporting to cover all legal proceedings, including court work and depositions. Individuals taking this course will learn about the court system, legal procedure, terminology, ethics, professionalism, confidentiality. Students will learn how to work with DR (digital reporting) software and equipment, and they will practice annotating with DR software. There is no hands-on training with DR equipment. Some assignments in the course require the use of digital court reporting software to complete. For students who don't have DR Software, we have made available a 45-day trial of DRC-B software through an industry partner. In order to use this software, you will need a computer that runs Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The trial software will not work with other operating systems used on computers/devices like Mac, Android, Chrome Notebooks, or iOS. Recommend computer specs: Current Generation Quad Core Intel Processor / 8GB RAM / 15” Diagonal Screen Size / Screen Resolution of 1366 x 768 or higher. (If using a desktop with no internal sound card, it may be necessary to plug in an external microphone.) At the completion of this course, you can take the Certified Electronic Reporter (CER) and/or Certified Deposition Reporter (CDR) exam from AAERT. 80 Course Hours. Scholarships available for full tuition as long as scholarship funds are available. AAERT requires you have a high school diploma or equivalent to sit for the national exam. SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE Digital Court Reporter with Legal Transcription. This 24-week class is taken online and is self-paced. It is designed to give participants a thorough understanding of digital court reporting and legal transcription. Individuals taking this course will learn about the court system, legal procedure, terminology, ethics, professionalism, confidentiality. During the digital reporting portion of the course, students will learn how to cover all types of legal proceedings, including how to work with DR (digital reporting) software and equipment, and they will practice annotating with DR software. There is no hands-on training with DR equipment. During the legal transcription portion of the course, students will gain the knowledge to format, transcribe, edit, and proofread legal transcripts for correct grammar, punctuation and word usage. Equipment Requirements: PC-based computer with Windows 10,or 11,MS Word (Microsoft Word 2016, 2019, and Office 365),Express Scribe Professional software, an Infinity USB-2 Foot Pedal, and headphones.
