American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
The HGTC Student Chapter of ASCE is a college affiliate chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The mission of this organization is to advance the science and profession of engineering in a manner consistent with the purpose of ASCE. Membership is open to all Horry-Georgetown Technical College students enrolled in an Engineering Technology Program, as well as AAS students who intend to transfer to a 4 year college for an engineering major. Students must also register with ASCE as an official national student member, provide their ASCE member number, and pay membership dues of $20.00.

The organization meets during the year to discuss engineering topics, potential service projects, fundraising opportunities, as well as the Competitive Event held in the Spring of each year. HGTC ASCE is a part of the Carolinas Conference. Each Spring a Symposium is held at one of the conference schools in North Carolina or South Carolina. It is a great opportunity to enhance engineering skill and judgment, connect with peers, obtain recognition, network with potential employers, and/or network with the 4 year colleges.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the club advisor, Professor David D. Lewis, P.E., Civil Engineering and Construction Management Professor.
