FAFSA Changes |
HGTC FA Staff could assist with FAFSA Corrections. |
New FAFSA requires Students and Parents to make the corrections themselves. |
Only one parent was required to sign the FAFSA for a dependent student. |
Depending on circumstances both parents may be required to sign. |
HGTC could see an incomplete FAFSA and could advise or assist student. |
HGTC is unable to see any FAFSA and provide guidance until the FAFSA is complete. |
Students and Parents had the option to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool but was not

Students and Parents are required to use the IRS Direct Data Exchange. |

Verification |
Students selected for FA Verification could see missing requirements with links to
the needed forms in their myHGTC Student Portal. |
Students will not see a list of missing documents as before but will see a link to
access the Verification Gateway to complete the process. |
Students selected for FA Verification could interact directly with HGTC's FA office |
Students will now access the Verification Gateway to complete the process. Students
will be notified by email to create an account. |
Students could bring missing documents directly to HGTC FA office. |
Students can still submit missing documents, but it will slow down the process. They
