Current Capital Projects

Total Work-In-Process Budget: $30,104,790.

Conway

  • Upfit and Renovate New Diesel Property – Budget $1,950,000
    Quackenbush, Inc. is the architect. Construction was awarded to Consensus with a base bid of $1,739,000 and add alternate of $49,300. Renovations have begun and all work is tentatively scheduled to be complete by September 8th. The project budget of $1,950,000 does not include up to $400,000 in additional costs that will not be charged to the project. Those costs include but are not limited to leveling the loading docks and demolishing the interior of the existing structure.
  • Repair/Replace Roofing Systems – Budget $4,276,987 *
    The College engaged the BEE Group to assess all roofing systems on all campuses. Based on the BEE Group’s recommendations the project scope includes repairing/replacing roofing systems on Buildings 200, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000 and 1100. HGTC is in the process of seeking Phase 1 approvals and selecting an engineering firm. Construction will occur over the next 15 months.
  • HVAC Upgrades Conway – Budget $1,513,556 *
    HGTC hired DWG as its mechanical engineer to assess the HVAC systems on all buildings on all campuses. Based on DWG’s recommendations the College submitted an A-1 Project request on April 29th to repair and/or replace the systems for Conway Buildings 100, 200, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, and 3000 with a budget of $1,513,556. The project was approved by the Capital Budget Office on May 27th. DWG was also chosen as the engineer and is in the process of designing these systems and developing a timeline for completion.
  • Replace HVAC for Building 1100 – Budget $1,950,000 *
    HGTC hired DWG as its mechanical engineer to design the system and provide specifications for bidding. Hoyt Mechanical was awarded the construction contract on August 25th with a bid of $1,426,800. The construction timeline is yet to be finalized.
  • Building 1000 - Renovate Elevator – Budget $250,000 *
    The scope of the project is to renovate the elevator system in Building 1000. The elevator is the original system that was installed during initial construction of the building in 1990. The College is awaiting approval of the project.

Grand Strand

  • Building 100 Renovation and Expansion – Budget $15,000,000
    This is an A-1 capital project dedicated to expanding the College’s Nursing and Health Sciences Programs. The project scope includes renovating 14,122 square feet of space and adding 10,000 square feet by constructing a second floor inside the existing structure. The A-1 (Phase 1) package was submitted to Columbia on July7th and is scheduled to receive approval from the SFAA on November 1st. Based on estimated project approval and construction timelines, the College should not plan to occupy the space before January 2025.
  • HVAC Upgrades Grand Strand – Budget $1,457,900 *
    HGTC hired DWG as its mechanical engineer to assess the HVAC systems on all buildings on all campuses. Based on DWG’s recommendations the College submitted an A-1 Project request on April 29th to upgrade and/or replace the systems for Grand Strand Buildings 200, 300, and 1000 with a budget of $1,457,900.   • Building 1000 – OTA - Renovations and Equipment – Budget $100,000
    Scope of project includes possible renovations and acquisition of equipment to meet new program needs and accreditation requirements. Project to be completed by August 2022.

    The College engaged the BEE Group to assess all roofing systems on all campuses. Based on the BEE Group’s recommendations the project scope includes repairing/replacing roofing systems on Buildings 300, 500, and 1000. HGTC is in the process of seeking Phase 1 approvals and selecting an engineering firm. Construction will occur over the next 15 months.

Georgetown

  • Repair/Replace Roofing Systems – Budget $1,265,182 *
    The College engaged the BEE Group to assess all roofing systems on all campuses. Based on the BEE Group’s recommendations the project scope includes repairing/replacing roofing systems on Building 100 and the Science Wing. HGTC is in the process of seeking Phase 1 approvals and selecting an engineering firm. Construction will occur over the next 15 months.
  • Replace HVAC for Building 100 – Budget $1,500,000 *
    HGTC hired DWG as its mechanical engineer to design the system and provide specifications for bidding. RC Jacobs was awarded the construction contract on August 25th with a bid of $1,173,000. The construction timeline is yet to be finalized.
  • Building 100 - Renovate Elevator – Budget $250,000 *
    The scope of the project is to renovate the elevator system in Building 100. The elevator is the original system that was installed during initial construction of the building in 1977. The College is awaiting approval of the project.

All Campuses

  • Roofing systems assessment.
  • HVAC feasibility study for all 3 campuses.

Conway

  • Repaved selected roads and parking lots.
  • Acquired land and building at 471 Allied Drive, Conway (for the Diesel Program).
  • Golf Course Outdoor Lab construction.
  • Upgraded directional signage.
  • Completed renovations of Building 200 for Information Technology.
  • Renovated Building 1000 for Cyber-Security program.
  • Renovated firehouse to a Diesel Training Lab.
  • Developed CDL training lot.
  • Installed new flooring in halls/lobby areas of AMC.

Grand Strand

  • Renovated and expanded the Surgical Technology lab, classroom, and offices.
  • Renovated and equipped the small kitchen in Building 600.
  • Campus Landscaping (included installing irrigation, sod, and plant materials).
  • Renovate the exteriors of Building 100, 200, and 300 and the campus infrastructure (sidewalks, parking, and roads).
  • The low slope roof on Building 600 was replaced.
  • Building 600 interior and exterior renovations.
  • Overseeing relocation of Pampas Drive overhead power lines.
  • Finalized/consolidated legal titles of Grand Strand property to HGTC.

Georgetown

  • Repaved selected roads and parking lots.
  • Phase 1 Renovations - (included painting the roof and building exteriors, installing new windows and doors in the student lounge, and underpinning the canopy).
  • Phase 2 Renovations – (installing pavers, seat walls, and exterior seating in the north and south courtyards and landscaping both courtyards).
  • Tree removal and sodding.
  • Main Building interior renovation.
  • Campus Masterplan.
  • Constructed turning lanes.
  • Refinished floors in GCAM.
  • Completed construction of GCAM.
  • Expanded HVAC training labs.
