In addition to the residential Bridge Program, Horry-Georgetown Technical College students may elect to enroll in the Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) and Coastal Carolina University (CCU) Coastal Bound Program. Students can enroll in this program in their first semester at HGTC or any subsequent semester, and may remain in the program until they successfully graduate or meet the transfer requirements to CCU. This partnership will provide students who have identified CCU as their transfer institution with additional CCU services early in their collegiate career.
Students who elect to enroll in this program will receive the following services from CCU at no cost, in addition to the services provided by HGTC. Students must adhere to the Code of Conduct at both institutions.
Lib Jackson Student Union
The purpose of the Lib Jackson Student Union is to enhance the co-curricular experience for CCU students. Students participating in Coastal Bound, as well as HGTC students, can watch a movie in the Coastal Theater and pay the same $2 rate as Coastal students. (HGTC students must show their HGTC ID card to get the rate).
Cultural Events
You also have access to all academic and cultural events on campus including concerts, lectures, theatrical performances, and art exhibits. Take advantage of the many Cultural Arts that are offered at CCU. For cultural events, CCU and HGTC students pay $3 if the general admission is $19 - $25 and pay nothing if general admission is $10. Tickets sales can be found here.
Academic Resources
As a participant in Coastal Bound, you have access to discuss program options with Coastal faculty. Participating students will be directed on how to connect with faculty and facilitate that faculty-to-student communication.
Athletic Events
Coastal Bound students will receive tickets to Coastal sporting events throughout the semester.
Additional Benefits
In addition to the perks above, the following services will be available to all Coastal Bound students:
- Access to Transfer Orientation
- Eligibility for Reverse Transfer
In order to transfer to Coastal Carolina University, students must apply and meet the CCU admissions transfer requirements. Transfer students accepted to Coastal Carolina University with an earned Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree from HGTC will have all core curriculum requirements waived. Course prerequisites and minimum credit requirements for the awarding of degrees will still apply.
