an outstanding variety of programs designed to prepare healthcare professionals in

EMT (Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic)
This program prepares students for practice as paramedics, with opportunities for students entering the field of emergency care and for advancement for those working in the field. Classes are offered on the Grand Strand campus.
Upon successful completion of the first two semesters of the Paramedic program, students may be eligible for the EMT-Basic Certificate. Students should contact their Advisor for information.

Medical Coding and Billing
This certificate program, offered on the Grand Strand campus, prepares students for employment in the business and technology side of healthcare. Medical coding and billing is the process of translating medical documentation into standardized codes for the purpose of national statistical reporting and reimbursement of services. It also involves the collection, verification of integrity, compliance, and storage of information related to healthcare services. Graduates work in all areas related to the healthcare industry, including hospitals, doctors' offices, long-term care, billing/coding agencies, ancillary service organizations, regulatory agencies, and insurance companies. This profession covers a broad spectrum of administrative employment with limited patient contact. Upon completion of this program, graduates are eligible for a national certification examination.

Respiratory Care
The goal of the Respiratory Care Program at Horry-Georgetown Technical College is to prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs). Respiratory Care therapists have a vital role of taking care of patients who suffer from heart and lung ailments. Horry-Georgetown Technical College Respiratory Care program trains students with the most up-to-date technology and equipment, so students are ready for employment in the career. At HGTC, you as a student will realize the important part you’ll have in today’s healthcare system caring for high-risk patients in their most intense moments.
