HGTC Cybersecurity Teams Win Awards at Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition
Cybersecurity Students Represent HGTC at the Highest Level in Southeast Region.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to announce the HGTC Cybersecurity Team secured top honors at the Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition (PCDC) held virtually
from Charleston, SC April 17 – 18, 2021. HGTC received the coveted 1st Place award
in the Hack Warz Competition and 3rd Place overall while competing against nine (9)
other colleges including Clemson University, University of South Carolina, Charleston
Southern University, College of Charleston, The Citadel, Lander University, ECPI University,
United States Naval Academy, and Trident Technical College.
“Our students performed superbly and represented HGTC at the highest level. I am
extremely proud of our results this year after placing second in 2019. Our accomplishments
are remarkable considering we competed against the top four-year programs in the nation,”
said Stanton Greenawalt, HGTC Cybersecurity Professor.
In addition to the overall awards, one of HGTC’s teams also received the 5th Place
in the Hack Warz Competition. In the individual awards category, HGTC received the
1st Place and 2nd Place awards among 30 individual participants.
