Certified Crane Operator Course

Sky View logoHGTC in partnership with Skyview Crane Training and Inspections, is pleased to offer Certified Crane operator training in Horry County. The goal of this course is to assist individuals with preparation for the National Commission of Certified Crane Operators (NCCCO) written and practical examinations. Certified crane operators are in high demand.

This course includes all objectives that are required nationally to prepare you to operate a crane on any job site. Course completion will allow new students and existing crane operators to improve their expertise and prepare them for the National Commission of Certified Crane Operators examinations.

We are excited to offer these classes for FREE as part of the SC WINS scholarship fund if you qualify for the scholarship! To qualify for the scholarship, you must be a South Carolina resident for 1-year and be at least 18 years old, it's that simple! The scholarship is not based on your income, place of employment, employment status, or where you live within South Carolina. Once you complete the scholarship application and attach a copy of your driver’s license, we will contact you via the email address that you provide on your application. We will either ask for additional information or we will let you know that you are registered for the class. You do not need to register or pay for the class, just simply complete the scholarship application by clicking the link below. Please apply for the scholarship at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the class.

Scholarship Application

If you are planning on paying for the course outright and not applying for a scholarship, you will need to complete the verification of citizenship form. Once you have completed the verification of citizenship form, please go directly to the classes and click the register button on the class you would like to register for and it will take you to a link to pay for the class.  We will email you a confirmation that you have been registered, and you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail with your parking pass and class information in the mail within 7-10 business days.    

2 Week Basic Crane Operator Training Class

  • Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Rigger/Signal Person Portion

This class will also include the Crane Rigger/Signal portion. You will need to wear safety shoes or boots and long pants.

  • Situational awareness (how to take site specific considerations into account)
  • Technical knowledge
  • Voice communication

Successful completion of the following tasks are also required:

  • Basic knots
  • Pre-use rigging inspection
  • Rigging hitches
  • Rigging connections

Each participant will receive certificate of completion and a photo ID card.
