Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to announce its exceptional performance on the 2024 National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), exceeding the national average pass rates and reinforcing its position as a leader in nursing education. HGTC’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program achieved a 92.86% pass rate, while its Practical Nursing (PN) program attained an impressive 90% pass rate.
South Carolina as a whole demonstrated outstanding results, ranking sixth (6th) in the nation for registered nursing and seventh (7th) for practical nursing. According to the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation, the State’s pass rate for first-time NCLEX-RN takers was 94.7%, compared to the national average of 91.2%. For the NCLEX-PN, South Carolina’s pass rate was 97.1%, significantly surpassing the national average of 88.4%.
“HGTC’s success in exceeding the 90 percent benchmark on the NCLEX is a testament to our exceptional faculty, dedicated students, and rigorous curriculum,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, HGTC President. “We are committed to providing top-tier nursing education that prepares our graduates to meet the ever-growing healthcare demands of our communities.”
The NCLEX is a critical requirement for nursing graduates seeking licensure to practice in the United States. With the nation facing a significant nursing shortage, HGTC’s commitment to producing highly qualified nurses is more important than ever.
“Our students’ outstanding performance on the NCLEX is a reflection of their dedication, hard work, and the quality of instruction they receive at HGTC,” said Ann Daniels, Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences. “We take great pride in equipping our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers and make meaningful contributions to healthcare.”
HGTC offers a comprehensive Associate in Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) degree, providing students with in-depth classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory practice, and clinical experience at top healthcare facilities. The program prepares graduates to take the NCLEX-RN and launch their careers as registered nurses in a variety of healthcare settings.
HGTC will host an open house on Wednesday, April 9 for individuals interested in enrolling in its Nursing and Associated Health Care Sciences programs.
