HGTC Foundation Raises Over $109,000 at 17th Annual Gala

The Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Foundation is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of its 17th Annual Gala, "Passport to Madrid," which raised an impressive $109,000 to benefit scholarships and student programs at HGTC. This premier fundraising event, held on March 8, 2025, at the HGTC International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach, brought together community leaders, donors, and supporters for an elegant evening dedicated to advancing education.

Mrs. Shannon Detzler, President & CEO of the HGTC Foundation, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of generosity, stating, “We are beyond grateful for the incredible support from our sponsors, donors, and attendees. Their contributions will have a direct and lasting impact on our students, providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.”

Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, President of HGTC, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of community investment in higher education. “The continued success of the HGTC Foundation Gala is a demonstration of the firm commitment of our community to higher education. These funds will make a significant difference in the lives of our students, empowering them to pursue their dreams and build brighter futures.”

The evening featured an exquisite hors d'oeuvre and champagne reception, live entertainment, a virtual silent auction, and a five-course gourmet dinner skillfully prepared by HGTC professional chef instructors and students. The Virtual Silent Auction, which ran from February 22 to March 8, showcased an array of exclusive packages, including chef-catered dinner parties, spa packages, dining & nightlife attractions, and travel getaways.
