Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of two accomplished professionals to its Area Commission. Governor Henry McMaster has appointed Mr. John Cassidy, Co-founder and President of Duplicates INK – marketSMART, and Mr. Byron David, Attorney at The David Law Firm, to serve three-year terms, effective until July 2026.
The appointments of Mr. Cassidy and Mr. David come at a crucial time for HGTC, following the retirement of Mr. Melvin Nobles and the passing of Mr. Donald Helms, both of whom have played integral roles in the college's success.
Mr. Byron David, a respected attorney and judge with deep roots in Horry and Georgetown counties, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, "HGTC is an economic powerhouse for our community, and I am honored to contribute to its success on the Area Commission. President Fore and the administration are doing an exceptional job adapting to our area’s evolving workforce needs, and I am extremely excited to get to work and help."
With a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina, Mr. David brings a wealth of legal expertise and a commitment to community service. He resides in Myrtle Beach with his wife Brooke and their two sons, embodying a strong connection to the local community.
Mr. John Cassidy, known for his dynamic role as Co-founder and President of Duplicates INK - marketSMART, expressed his gratitude for the appointment, stating, "My passion for entrepreneurship aligns seamlessly with HGTC's commitment to fostering success in higher education and beyond.
