This prestigious recognition celebrates her exceptional commitment to sea turtle conservation at Myrtle Beach State Park.

Professor Roberts’ dedication to the SCDNR sea turtle program reflects her profound passion for protecting endangered species and educating the public about the importance of conservation. Through her volunteer work, she actively participates in locating, relocating, and marking sea turtle nests, conducting inventories, and assisting with educational programs for visitors. Professor Roberts also excels in training other volunteers, enhancing the program's effectiveness and outreach.

“We are incredibly proud of Professor Lauren Roberts for this outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, HGTC President. “Her dedication to sea turtle conservation and environmental education serves as an inspiring example of the impact one person can have on their community. In response to the recognition, Professor Roberts shared:
"I am delighted to merge my passion for sea turtle conservation with my dedication to teaching. It is a privilege to be part of a team of over 60 volunteers working to protect these remarkable creatures. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Ann Wilson, lead interpretive ranger at Myrtle Beach State Park, for her incredible leadership and for nominating me for this honor."
