Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) and the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) are thrilled to announce a partnership in hosting the GoSciTech series, a STEM-focused day camp for rising 6 – 8 grade middle school students at the HGTC Conway Campus from July 8 to July 11.
This exciting collaboration between GSSM and HGTC will provide unique STEM education opportunities for young learners in the area. As one of the 10 technical colleges participating in this initiative, HGTC is proud to contribute to the advancement of STEM education in South Carolina.

The camp, part of GSSM's renowned GoSciTech series, is designed to inspire and engage students in the fields of engineering, technology, and life sciences. Through hands-on activities and interactive sessions, participants have the opportunity to develop problem-solving skills, foster teamwork, and explore the fascinating world of STEM.
The GSSM GoSciTech Day camp is curated by the GSSM Outreach Center team, in collaboration with local educators and professionals, ensuring a transformative educational experience for all participants. With a focus on fun and learning, the camp encourages students to delve into various STEM topics, empowering them to grow as scientists and engineers.
“Our goal is to offer engaging STEM experiences that not only educate but also inspire young learners to pursue careers in STEM fields,” commented Randy LaCross, Senior Vice President for Outreach & Global Initiatives at GSSM. “By partnering with technical colleges like HGTC, we aim to reach students across the state and ignite their passion for STEM.”
In addition to the GoSciTech Day camp, GSSM is offering residential and virtual options to cater to the diverse needs of families. The application deadline for all camps is Wednesday, May 15.
