In a generous gesture of community support, Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is pleased to announce it will be providing a temporary home for Meals on Wheels of Horry and Georgetown counties during their critical period of transition.
With the immediate need for a new location, Meals on Wheels, a commendable non-profit organization serving homebound, elderly, and terminally ill community members, faced the challenge of a potential suspension of services. HGTC recognizes the invaluable impact this organization has on the lives of so many, and in a spirit of partnership and community collaboration, has answered the call for a viable solution through a facility use agreement.
"We are incredibly grateful for the generous support extended to us by Horry-Georgetown Technical College during this challenging time. Their swift and compassionate response ensures that we can continue our mission of delivering nutrition, compassion, and hope to those who are homebound, elderly, and terminally ill. The provision of a temporary space on the Conway Campus, equipped with a kitchen area, is not just a physical location for us but a symbol of community solidarity and shared commitment. This partnership with HGTC is instrumental in allowing us to maintain our services seamlessly while we work towards securing a permanent home. We extend our deepest appreciation to HGTC for their invaluable support, and we look forward to the positive impact we can create together for our community,” said Michael Snuggs, Chief Executive Officer for Meals on Wheels of Horry & Georgetown counties.
HGTC is proud to extend the use of a designated space on the Conway Campus, complete with a fully equipped kitchen area, ensuring that Meals on Wheels can continue their vital work without disruption. This collaboration is more than just the provision of physical space; it represents a shared commitment to the well-being of our community and a belief in the power of collective action.
"This partnership between Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Meals on Wheels shows our commitment to supporting organizations that make a profound difference in the lives of our neighbors. We are honored to stand alongside Meals on Wheels during this critical time and to offer a space that will serve as their operational hub as they work towards securing a new facility," said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President.
The College understands the urgency of Meals on Wheels' situation and is making this space available for a year with the possibility of renewal, providing the organization with the time and stability needed to identify and establish a permanent location for their essential services.
HGTC encourages the community to join in supporting Meals on Wheels during this transitional phase and looks forward to witnessing the continued positive impact that this organization brings to our community.
