Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) employees made the holiday season brighter for local seniors through the Meals on Wheels of Horry & Georgetown Counties “Adopt a Senior” program. As part of the College’s annual Angel Tree Project, individual employees and departments adopted 38 Meals on Wheels seniors, fulfilling their holiday wish lists with thoughtful gifts and essential items.

“This year’s Angel Tree Project was a tremendous success, thanks to the compassionate and giving spirit of our HGTC family,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murphy” Fore, HGTC President. “We are honored to partner with Meals on Wheels to support their incredible mission and bring comfort and joy to some of our most vulnerable neighbors during this special season.”

Meals on Wheels provided HGTC with the wish lists, which included practical items such as hygiene products, snacks, clothing, books, stamps, and more. Employees generously shopped, wrapped, and placed the gifts in festive bags, ensuring a joyful holiday for these homebound, elderly, and terminally ill community members.

"The support from Horry-Georgetown Technical College has been nothing short of extraordinary," said Michael Snuggs, CEO of Meals on Wheels of Horry & Georgetown Counties. "Their generosity through the ‘Adopt a Senior’ program ensures that 38 of our seniors feel valued and cared for this holiday season. Partnerships like this make our mission possible and bring hope and joy to those who need it most."

Currently, Meals on Wheels of Horry & Georgetown Counties serves over 500 locals by providing free, home-delivered meals and companionship to those who are homebound, elderly, or terminally ill. The organization’s “Adopt a Senior” program is a cherished initiative during the holiday season, allowing community members to spread kindness and support.
