Dr. Cindy Johnston, HGTC Assistant Vice President for Student Enrollment Services, presents HGTC information to the school counselors at the appreciation luncheon.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) and Coastal Carolina University (CCU) proudly co-hosted the annual School Counselor Appreciation Luncheon, celebrating the commitment of high school counselors who guide the region’s youth toward a bright future. The luncheon, held in the elegant Allen Ballroom of the Singleton Building on the CCU campus, honored the essential role of school counselors in preparing students for success and connecting them to life-changing educational opportunities.
Each year, this much-anticipated event brings together school counselors from local counties, providing them with fresh insights, resources, and tools to help students navigate their academic journeys. More than 40 counselors were in attendance this year to learn more about the two (2) higher education institutions.
The luncheon featured inspiring presentations from HGTC and CCU leaders, sharing exciting updates on new academic programs, expanded facilities, admissions processes, and initiatives designed to make college more accessible and affordable. These updates equip counselors with the latest information to support students and families in making informed choices about their educational paths.
Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, President of HGTC, expressed deep gratitude for the counselors’ work, stating, “School counselors are the champions behind our students’ successes. Their tireless support, encouragement, and guidance light the path for our future leaders. We are immensely grateful for all they do.”
HGTC and CCU leaders also emphasized the power of partnership in making a positive impact on the community. This luncheon embodies the spirit of collaboration between HGTC and CCU, underscoring the shared commitment to excellence in education and student success.
