HGTC Diagnostic Medical Sonography Students Class of 2024
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) proudly announced the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Class of 2024 has achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate on the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) board exams. This outstanding accomplishment includes success on both the ultrasound physics and specialty board exams, a feat that places these students well above the national average pass rates of 78%.
Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, President of HGTC, expressed her pride in the students and faculty, "This extraordinary achievement reflects the dedication, perseverance, and exceptional talent of our Diagnostic Medical Sonography students and the tireless efforts of our faculty. At HGTC, we strive for excellence in all we do, and the Class of 2024 has set a new benchmark. Congratulations to all involved—this is a moment of pride for the entire College community."
The success of the Class of 2024 stands out not only for the perfect pass rate but also because it is the largest class to achieve this milestone, with all 16 students passing on their first attempt. Moreover, many of these students are working toward completing additional specialty certifications before graduation, a rare accomplishment that positions them as leaders in the field.
Ann Daniels, HGTC Assistant Vice President and Dean of the Health Sciences Division,
commended the program’s innovative approach and the commitment of its students,
"This milestone highlights the exceptional quality of instruction and support our
faculty provides, as well as the dedication of our students. It’s incredible to see
how our graduates are entering the workforce with multiple credentials, ready to make
a profound impact in healthcare. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and success."
Over the years, the DMS program at HGTC has steadily improved its pass rates through rigorous preparation and innovative teaching methods. While past cohorts have achieved impressive outcomes, the Class of 2024 represents the pinnacle of success with their 100% performance on all exams.
“This is more than a success story—it’s an inspiration,” said Caryn Atkins, HGTC Professor and Program Director of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. “The faculty and students committed to a process of consistent effort and excellence, and together, we achieved an extraordinary goal. This moment will serve as a standard for years to come.”
HGTC extends heartfelt congratulations to the DMS Class of 2024 and their faculty for their hard work, resilience, and achievements. Their success underscores HGTC’s commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences that prepare students to excel in their chosen fields.
