Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to recognize Ivan Johnson with the Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award 2024. As a distinguished member of the Advanced Welding Technology program and an alumnus of HGTC, Mr. Johnson has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the art and science of welding. His commitment to quality of instruction is evident in his efforts to maintain a learning environment where students receive the highest quality of welding instruction. Under his guidance, students have not only met but exceeded their educational timelines, securing employment and internships ahead of schedule.

His student-instructor relationship is strengthened by his military leadership background and his proactive approach to student development. From personal letters of recommendation to addressing life’s daily challenges, Mr. Johnson has been a pillar of support for his students.
In terms of general college support, Mr. Johnson’s contributions extend far beyond the classroom. His presence is a staple at college events, professional development sessions, and industry meetings. His efforts in connecting graduates with potential employers have significantly enhanced job placement rates for our students.
