Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) proudly announces Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, President of HGTC, has been elected to serve on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Trustees as a member of the South Carolina delegation of trustees. Dr. Fore will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2025.

The SACSCOC Board of Trustees plays a pivotal role in guiding the accreditation process for degree-granting institutions in the United States and internationally. Dr. Fore will join 76 other distinguished members who are committed to upholding the organization’s mission of assuring educational quality and improving institutional effectiveness.

Dr. Fore expressed her honor at being elected to this prestigious role, stating, “It is an incredible privilege to represent South Carolina on the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. Accreditation is the cornerstone of quality and integrity in higher education, and I am eager to contribute to this critical work, ensuring that our institutions remain steadfast in their commitment to student success and academic excellence.”

SACSCOC accredits degree-granting institutions in 11 southern states and select international locations, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards and fostering continuous quality improvement. The organization’s vision is to serve as the premier model for shaping and ensuring the quality of higher education worldwide.
