Engineering Student Secures Apprenticeship at Lockheed Martin Aircraft Maintenance
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to announce Josey Cantey, engineering student and soon to be graduate, has been accepted for an apprenticeship at Lockheed Martin Aircraft Maintenance in Greenville, South Carolina.
Cantey will be attending a six-week training program starting in May as part of a four-month apprenticeship program. She is the first to be accepted from this area according to Ed McCarthy, HGTC Associate Professor of Electronics Engineering Technology.
“HGTC values the relationships with business and industry and works closely with students to foster more engagement with our partners to support growth and development. Josey Cantey took the initiative to seek an ambitious opportunity at Lockheed Martin, and we are excited for her to have this experience at one of the largest companies in the state. She is currently on track to graduate from HGTC with honors as one of our most successful engineering students,” said McCarthy.
Once the apprenticeship program is complete, Cantey plans to secure a full-time position as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician this fall.
