President Fore Accepts Community Appearance Board Chairman’s Award from the City of Myrtle Beach for the HGTC Grand Strand Campus
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) President, Dr. Marilyn Fore, took part in the City of Myrtle Beach's Annual Arbor Day Ceremony held on December 8, 2023, in the Arts & Innovation District of Myrtle Beach. The event, organized by Myrtle Beach City Government, celebrated Arbor Day with a tree planting ceremony, Community Appearance Board awards, and the 27th annual Tree City USA recognition.
During the ceremony, President Fore was presented with The Community Appearance Board Chairman's Award for HGTC’s exceptional contributions to the aesthetic appeal and environmental consciousness of its HGTC Grand Strand Campus in Market Common. The Chairman's Award is a testament to HGTC's commitment to maintaining an outstanding environment that aligns with the city's vision for a green and sustainable community.
The Arbor Day Ceremony featured the recognition of several businesses and properties for their exceptional contributions to community appearance.

The highlight of the ceremony was the collaborative effort of all participants to plant a new live oak tree in the pervious paver parking lot that serves Nance Plaza in the Arts & Innovation District. This symbolizes the collective commitment to the city's green initiatives and environmental sustainability.
President Fore expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon HGTC, stating, "We are proud to be recognized by the City of Myrtle Beach for our dedication to creating and maintaining an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally conscious campus.
