Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to report the completion of its 10-year Accreditation site visit and review for the Surgical Technology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs. During the site visits, HGTC data, student files, and methods were reviewed to determine the compliance status of accreditation standards.
The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is the accreditation body which reviews years of program data and allows for suspending, denying, or continuing accreditation of more than 2500 programs in 31 health sciences professions. HGTC earned the continuing accreditation status of both programs with no recommendations from the site visit review board.
“The CAAHEP site visit was a huge success for HGTC. Another site visit will not be required for 10 more years,” said Erin Ivey, HGTC Assistant Chair and Program Director of Surgical Technology.
“I am very proud of everyone’s hard work with this process. To be awarded the10-year interval from CAAHEP shows their confidence in our program and assures the students and community we have a high-quality program,” said Caryn Atkins, HGTC Assistant Chair and Professor of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
