HGTC Announces Pre-Professional Pathways for Transfer Students
HGTC has developed pathway programs for students to take courses directly related to goals.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) recently announced pre-professional pathways for new and existing students. Students interested in transferring to a four-year institution can now select a specific concentration, like Associate in Arts pre-business, pre-law, pre-psychology, or Associate in Science pre-medicine, pre-marine science, pre-engineering. These pathways help students prepare for future careers by taking courses directly related to educational goals while earning an associate degree and transferring credits to a four-year institution.
“We’re excited to offer career pathways in some of the most popular and sought-after career areas for our students. It is a great way for them to get a jump on their dream career while completing their associate degree. From here students can then transfer on to a senior institution and capitalize on their time at HGTC with credits earned towards their bachelor’s degree. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in career exploration while completing their degree,” said Dr. Candace Howell, HGTC Assistant Vice President, Dean of Arts & Sciences.
Students can also participate in the 15 to Finish program, an academic initiative designed to save students time when it comes to degree completion. In doing so, students can complete an Associate in Arts or Science degree in just four semesters instead of five.
