HGTC Alpha Nu Sigma Chapter Receives Most Distinguished Chapter
Carolinas Regional Convention Honors HGTC Alpha Nu Sigma Chapter with Regional Awards.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Alpha Nu Sigma Chapter Members and Advisors received numerous awards at the Carolinas Regional Convention March 12-13, 2021. The HGTC Alpha Nu Sigma Chapter received the Most Distinguished Chapter Award 2021 placing first out of 83 chapters in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Bermuda.

- Carolinas Region Honors in Action Award
- Carolinas Region Hall of Honor – Matthew Defreitas and Ola Watson
All awards were received based on projects and contributions in 2020. Chapter members were able to accomplish all projects without meeting in person and by starting and completing all projects in a virtual environment.
“HGTC continues to celebrate the successes of the Alpha Nu Sigma Chapter year after year. We are in awe of the ongoing commitment of our advisors and students even amid a pandemic. I am so proud that their work in building character, leadership, and public service awareness is receiving worthy recognition,” said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President.
“Congratulations to Professors Carraway and Rogers on their individual awards, as well as all of the students. These important initiatives focused on mental health and the food pantry, addressing critical issues in the last year with the pandemic. We are proud and appreciative to this group for making a difference to those at the college and in our local community,” said Dr. Jennifer Wilbanks, HGTC Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
