HGTC’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Wins International Awards
Alpha Nu Sigma, Horry-Georgetown Technical College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), took home a number of awards at the international PTK Catalyst Convention in Orlando, Florida last week.
The chapter won the following awards:
Distinguished Chapter Officer – Paulette LaValley was one of two from North and South Carolina to receive this award and one of only 31 internationally.
Distinguished Regional Officer – Jason Hanson was one of 11 to receive this award for his work as South Carolina Vice President of the Carolinas Region last year.
Distinguished College Project – Awarded for the chapter’s work on HGTC’s EPIC initiative. HGTC’s PTK was the only chapter in North or South Carolina to receive this award and one of 50 internationally.
Beta Alpha Continued Excellence Award - Awarded for being a Distinguished Chapter three or more consecutive years. The chapter was one of only seven in the country to receive the award and places the HGTC chapter in the top 50 chapters internationally (out of over 1300).
Paragon Award for New Advisors – Heather Jones was one of only 15 internationally to receive this award and the only recipient from North or South Carolina.
Distinguished Advisor Team – The team of Beth Carraway, Heather Jones, Leila Rogers, and John Sharpe were one of two in North and South Carolina and one of 16 teams internationally to receive the award.
Alumni Award of Appreciation – Awarded to Heather Jones.
