HGTC Student Places in Radiology Technician Competition in Atlanta
Amanda Haidet wins second place in Radiology Technology Student Bee.
(CONWAY) Apr. 30, 2018 – At the Atlanta Society of Radiologic Technologists’ 28th Annual Seminar and Conference for Technologists, Students, and Educators March 2-6, HGTC student Amanda Haidet placed 2nd among more than 60 contestants in the conference’s Student Bee. The single-elimination competition allowed students to answer questions about the radiology technology field and showcase their knowledge.
Haidet was one of 15 radiologic technology students from HGTC to attend the conference alongside Professor Douglas Gleasman.
“We are all very proud of Amanda and her accomplishment,” said Professor Gleasman. “She deserves this recognition for her professionalism and academic and clinical achievements.”
“I felt confident going in to the Student Bee knowing that my professors at HGTC had equipped me with the knowledge I needed not only to be successful in the competition, but in my radiology career,” said Amanda.
Haidet will graduate in May with an associate degree in radiologic technology, and looks forward to the path ahead.
“I want to be a radiology technologist because I truly want to help people, she said. “Radiology is one of the first steps in diagnosis of a patient and I want to be a part of that crucial team.”
HGTC’s radiologic technology program is a two-year associate degree program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
