HGTC Forestry Students Receive Scholarships
Georgetown Soil and Water Conservation District awards six $500 scholarships to outstanding students.
(Conway) Jan. 18, 2018 – Six students from Horry-Georgetown Technical College’s forestry management program received scholarships from the Georgetown Soil and Water Conservation District in December. The recipients were Quincy Gordon, William Babb, William Hayslip, Thomas Watson, Adam Lester, Jonathan Darling. Vice-Chairman Peggy Williams presented the students with their certificates and scholarships for $500 each.
The Georgetown Soil and Water Conservation District works to promote conservation in Georgetown County, in part by encouraging conservation education. Each year the Commissioners of the Georgetown Soil and Water Conservation District seek to award scholarships to students who are studying in the fields of conservation and natural resources. The applicants are judged on their grades, community involvement, essay, and career goals.
The only accredited associate degree program of its kind in South Carolina, the HGTC forestry management technology program trains students for a successful and rewarding career in wildlife and forestry management and timber harvesting.
