HGTC criminal justice student named to Phi Theta Kappa All-State Team
Conway, SC ~ Eric Kalkbrenner, a second year criminal justice major at Horry-Georgetown Technical College, has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-State Academic Team through the State Technical College System. He will compete later this spring for an opportunity to represent S.C. in national competition.
Twenty students will ultimately be selected to the All-USA Community College Academic Team sponsored by Follett Higher Education Group and presented by USA Today, the American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa, the honorary academic society for community colleges.
“I chose to study criminal justice because I was passionate about this field, and my father was a police officer,” Kalkbrenner said. “Seeing him help people in the community motivated me to do the same.”
In addition to completing his associate degree, Kalkbrenner plays hockey and devotes himself to fitness. He works part-time in the student gym at HGTC.
