HGTC Addiction and Recovery Series Starts Next Week-Public Invited
Actor Steve Ford, son of former Pres. Gerald R. Ford and Betty Ford, will tell about his life from the White House to Hollywood during the annual Addiction and Recovery Lecture Series at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. The public is invited to dinner Thurs., Feb. 20, in Café 1100 at 6 p.m. on the HGTC Conway Campus, followed by Ford’s presentation at 7 p.m. in the Burroughs & Chapin Auditorium.
Ford has appeared in more than 30 movies, including “When Harry Met Sally” and “Black Hawk Down.”
On Thurs., Feb. 27, a second event in the same place, same time, will feature Candy Finnigan, a nationally recognized addiction specialist and author. Some of Finnigan’s affiliations as interventionist include the Betty Ford Center, The Meadows and The Ranch Recovery in Desert Hot Springs.
The third and final event in the HGTC 2014 Addiction and Recovery Series will include a panel of students, faculty and staff who are in recovery from various addictions. Participants will speak Thurs., Mar. 6, on what it was like, what happened and what they do daily to maintain recovery.
