The Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Foundation is thrilled to announce a significant donation from longtime supporters John and Trena Draughn towards the enhancement of the new Nursing & Health Sciences Institute on the HGTC Grand Strand Campus.

The Draughn family's commitment to HGTC spans years, marked by their dedication to fostering excellence within the HGTC educational community. With the latest donation of $30,000, designated specifically for the lobby and vestibule area of the Nursing & Health Sciences Institute, the Draughn family continues to set a shining example of philanthropy and leadership.

"We are profoundly grateful to John and Trena Draughn for their continued generosity and belief in the mission of HGTC," said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President.  "Their longstanding support has been instrumental in advancing various initiatives across our campuses, and this latest contribution will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the experience of our students and faculty."

This latest grant builds upon the Draughns' previous contributions, including their instrumental support for the International Culinary Institute through the naming of the Culinary Lobby, as well as the establishment of the Trena & John Draughn Medical Laboratory Technician Endowed Scholarship in 2022. Now, with their focus on the Nursing & Health Sciences Institute lobby naming, the Draughns' legacy of philanthropy continues to flourish, leaving an indelible mark on the future of healthcare education at HGTC.

The new Nursing & Health Sciences Institute promises to be a hub of innovation and excellence, equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the dynamic field of healthcare. Through the Draughns' generous contribution, the lobby and vestibule area will serve as a welcoming and inspiring space, reflecting HGTC's commitment to fostering student success and academic excellence.

The purpose of the HGTC Foundation is to raise funds to support the programs, services, and activities of Horry-Georgetown Technical College, its students and employees, and to create and strengthen positive relations between the College and the community.
